VMRO-DPMNE opposition activists to hold demonstration in Skopje and other cities on October 20 to denounce alleged corruption and nepotism; avoid protests as a precaution

Activists from the opposition Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization - Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity (VMRO-DPMNE) are set to stage a go-slow vehicular protest march in the capital Skopje on Tuesday, October 20, to denounce alleged government corruption and nepotism. Demonstrators will reportedly gather in front of the Jane Sandanski Sports Center in the Aerodrom neighborhood at 18:30 (local time) before driving to the building of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. Related protests are to be anticipated in other major cities in North Macedonia on Tuesday, including in Veles, Ohrid, Kumanovo, Prilep, and Bitola.

A heightened security presence and localized travel disruptions should be anticipated in the vicinity of any protest.

Those in Skopje are advised to monitor developments, avoid large gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
