Warning

Event

Spain’s national rail operator Renfe announced on Tuesday, December 3, that it has canceled 155 trains scheduled for Thursday, December 5, due to partial strikes planned by CGT union workers. Service for 28 high speed AVE or long distance trains and 127 medium distance trains have been canceled but Renfe confirmed that minimum service will be provided on Thursday. Partial strikes are set to be held from 00:01-04:00, 11:00-15:00, and 20:00-23:59 (local time). Crowded conditions and an increased demand for available trains are expected due to the December Puente holiday weekend. Renfe is offering full refunds or ticket changes to affected customers. Further information can be found on the Renfe website here.

Advice

Potentially impacted travelers are advised to keep abreast of the situation, confirm train reservations, anticipated crowded conditions, and plan alternative modes of transportation or routes.
