Protesters march through Minsk on December 8 to oppose deepening relations with Russia; additional demonstrations possible over the coming days

Several hundred people marched through downtown Minsk on Sunday, December 8, for a second consecutive day to protest closer integration with Russia. Demonstrations broke out on Saturday, December 7, in response to a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
