Warning

Event

Emerging reports are stating that several explosions have been witnessed in the capital Asmara on Saturday evening, November 28. The explosions are being attributed to rocket attacks conducted by the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF). The exact locations of the incidents have not been confirmed and there have been no immediate reports of casualties.

Similar reports emerged on Friday, November 27, of rocket attacks in Asmara, Dekemhare, and other locations in Eritrea.

The news also follows claims made by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Saturday that the Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF) had seized Mekelle, the Tigrayan regional capital.

Further similar attacks are possible in the near term as the conflict across the border continues.

Advice

Those in Asmara are advised to shelter in place in anticipation of further attacks, monitor developments in their area of operations, and liaise with appropriate consular authorities.
