Public sector workers plan national general strike November 25

USI trade union calls for national general strike on November 25; disruptions to transport, education, and health sectors expected

The Unione Sindacale Italiana (USI) trade union, which represents public sector workers, has called for a national general strike on Wednesday, November 25. The strike is being held over a number of issues, including workers' rights, workplace safety, and the privatization of public services. The public transport network in Rome is expected to be affected by a four-hour strike between 08:30 and 12:30 (local time) and further disruptions to transport, education, and healthcare are expected across the country during the strike.

Protests associated with the strike are possible on the day and may be accompanied by a heightened security presence.

Those in Italy are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate disruptions to transport and other services during the strike, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
