The biennial Defence Expo (DefExpo) is scheduled to be held in Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh state) from Wednesday, February 5, through Sunday, February 9. Hundreds of Indian and foreign exhibitors are expected to participate in the events, which will be held in the Vrindavan Yojna area of the city. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has created a safe zone over Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (LKO) which will entail the airport’s closure for two hours every day between Tuesday, February 4, and Saturday, February 8. Around 90 flights will be rescheduled, impacting an estimated 22,000 passengers. Further information on the expo events and venue can be found on government website here.
Crowded conditions and an increased demand for accommodations and transportation services are expected in Lucknow during the expo. Heightened security measures, including an increased security presence and road closures, are also anticipated in the city.
Individuals in or planning to travel to Lucknow are advised to keep abreast of the situation, confirm flight reservations, anticipate associated disruptions, and obey all instructions issued by the local authorities.
