Nine people have been confirmed dead in a shooting incident in Baakleen (Chouf District) on Tuesday, April 21, in one of Lebanon's worst mass shootings in years. While the motive of the incident remains unknown, authorities have said it was a suspected honor killing. Five of the deceased were reportedly Syrian nationals and the suspect has since been apprehended by authorities.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are to be expected in the area over the coming hours.
