Shooting in Baakleen (Chouf District) leaves nine dead on April 21; heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions expected over coming hours



Nine people have been confirmed dead in a shooting incident in Baakleen (Chouf District) on Tuesday, April 21, in one of Lebanon's worst mass shootings in years. While the motive of the incident remains unknown, authorities have said it was a suspected honor killing. Five of the deceased were reportedly Syrian nationals and the suspect has since been apprehended by authorities.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are to be expected in the area over the coming hours.


Individuals in Baakleen are advised to avoid the affected area, report suspicious objects and behavior to the police, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
