The active shooter situation reported in Jersey City (New Jersey state) on Tuesday, December 10, has ended after two suspected gunmen were shot and killed. At least four others were killed in the shootout, including one police officer. According to officials, the incident began at approximately 12:30 (local time) when the suspects shot a police officer at Bay View Cemetery and fled the scene. The gunmen barricaded themselves inside a bodega on Martin Luther King Drive, which led to an hours-long standoff with police. Three civilians inside the store were killed. A lockdown order extended to all public schools in the city was lifted around 4:15.

A heightened police presence and localized traffic disruptions are anticipated in Jersey City over the coming hours as the authorities investigate the scenes of the shootings.
