Thailand: Active shooter situation ends in Nakhon Ratchsima February 9 /update 2

Security forces kill active shooter at mall in Nakhon Ratchsima (Nakhon Ratchsima province) on February 9; recovery efforts ongoing



The Thai soldier who had barricaded himself in a shopping mall in Nakhon Ratchsima (Nakhon Ratchasima province) has been killed by security forces on Sunday, February 9. Police officers entered the Terminal 21 mall on Sunday morning (local time) and shot the suspected shooter at approximately 09:15. At least 20 people were killed and another 42 were wounded in the incident, which began around 15:00 on Saturday, February 8. An investigation into the incident is ongoing and a motive remains unclear.  

A heightened police presence is expected around the mall over the coming hours and days as recovery efforts begin. 


Individuals in the area are advised to monitor the situation, avoid the area of the shooting until the situation normalizes, and obey all instructions issued by the local authorities.
