US: Salt Lake City Airport (SLC) closes following 5.7-magnitude earthquake in Utah state March 18 /update 1

Salt Lake City Airport (SLC) in Utah state was closed after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit the area at approximately 07:00 (local time) on Wednesday, March 18. SLC's air traffic control tower, terminals, and concourses were evacuated, and flight operations remain suspended as of 11:16 on Wednesday. Officials have reopened the road to the airport to allow for passenger pickup.

According to Rocky Mountain Power, around 70,000 people lost power as a result of the quake. Several buildings in Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas were evacuated in the immediate aftermath; however, no serious damage or injuries have been reported. Several aftershocks have been recorded.
