Activists to stage anti-government demonstrations in Santiago and Valparaiso on November 18-20; avoid protest sites as a precaution

Anti-government protesters plan to stage demonstrations in Santiago and Valparaiso on Wednesday, November 18, and Friday, November 20, to denounce the administration of President Sebastian Pinera. In Santiago, participants will march from the Universidad de Chile Metro station to La Moneda from 17:00 (local time) on both Wednesday and Friday. In Valparaiso, protesters will march from Plaza Sotomayor to Congress from 17:00 on Friday. The gatherings are expected to be well attended.

A heightened security presence and localized transport disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the demonstrations and clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Those in Santiago and Valparaiso are advised to monitor the situation, avoid the protest sites as a precaution, anticipate delays to transport, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
