South Africa: Demonstration scheduled in Johannesburg January 15

Unions to march towards Eskom CEO’s office in Johannesburg’s Sunninghill district on January 15; heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions possible



The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) representing employees of the state-owned Eskom electric utility have called for a demonstration to take place in Johannesburg on Wednesday, January 15. Demonstrators are expected to gather in front of Eskom's headquarters located in the Sunninghill district to demand that Eskom's unbundling into three entities be stopped immediately.
