Panama: Opposition protest planned in Panama City November 25

Opposition protest planned in Panama City on November 25; avoid all demonstrations as a precaution

The Movimiento Otro Camino opposition group has called for supporters to gather in Panama City on Wednesday, November 25, to denounce alleged government corruption and the actions of President Laurentino Cortizo's administration amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Participants are expected to gather from 16:00 (local time) at the Iglesia del Carmen in Vía España.

Localized disruptions are possible in the vicinity of the rally. Attendance at the rally remains unclear; however, a heightened security presence is expected in the vicinity of all demonstrations.

Those in Panama City are advised to monitor developments, avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, anticipate associated disruptions, and heed official directives issued by local authorities.
