Sri Lanka: Water supply cuts scheduled in Maharagama and Negombo January 6-8

Water supply to be cut for pipeline repairs in Maharagama and Negombo January 6-8; take appropriate measures

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced that two water supply cuts are scheduled to take place in Maharagama and Negombo from Monday, January 6, until Wednesday, January 8, due to maintenance works. Negombo and surrounding areas will experience a 24-hour water supply cut from 09:00 (local time) on Monday, until 09:00 on Tuesday, January 7. This cut will also affect the Katunayake Investment Promotion Zone, the Airforce Camp, and Bandaranaike International airport (CMB).

Maharagama and surrounding areas will experience a 24-hour water supply cut from 09:00 on Tuesday, until 09:00 on Wednesday. Further residual disruptions cannot be ruled out. 

Advice

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to conserve water, stock up on bottled water, keep abreast of the situation via local media outlets, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities (e.g. water rationing measures).
