Demonstrations against gender-based violence to be held nationwide on November 25; avoid demonstrations as a precaution

Nationwide demonstrations against gender-based violence are scheduled to occur in multiple urban centers, including Johanessburg, on Wednesday, November 25. In Johanessburg, the Economic Freedom Fighters political party plans to stage a demonstration at Sasol Ormonde View at 10:00 (local time). The demonstrations are due to coincide with 'International Day of Struggle and Solidarity Against Violence Against Women', and are also part of the UN's international campaign '16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence'. Although the demonstrations are likely to be well attended, it is expected to pass peacefully.

A heightened security presence and disruption to travel is to be anticipated in the vicinity of the rallies.
