Nigerian community to hold protest in Cape Town on December 2 against police violence in Nigeria; avoid demonstration as a precaution

Warning

Event

A protest is scheduled to take place in Cape Town on Wednesday, December 2, to denounce police brutality in Nigeria. Members of the Nigerian community are set to gather at the Anglican Diocese of Cape Town from 09:00 (local time) before marching to the Parliament building.

Although the protest is expected to pass peacefully, a heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the march, and clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Advice

Those in Cape Town are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all protests due to the risk of violence, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.
