Severe transportation disruptions have been reported in Delhi and in some northern states on Wednesday, January 8, as dense fog and poor weather triggered delays up to eight hours on 16 Delhi-bound trains.

The Indian Metropolitan Department (IMD) has issued an orange weather warning (second-highest on a four-tier scale) in Delhi on Wednesday, January 8, as thundershowers, hailstones, and heavy fog are expected over the capital. A red weather warning (highest on a four-tier scale) has also been issued in Uttarakhand as heavy snow is expected across the state, triggering severe road transportation disruptions.
