Police fired tear gas to disperse refugee and migrant protesters on Lesbos on Monday, February 3. Demonstrators reportedly organized to denounce prevailing conditions in migrant camps and the perceived slow speed at which requests for asylum are reviewed.

Similar incidents are possible on Lesbos over the near term amid a heightened security presence. Associated commercial and transportation disruptions are to be expected near demonstration sites.
