UK: Activists to protest COVID-19 restrictions in Edinburgh from 1230 December 5

Activists will protest against COVID-19 restrictions in Edinburgh, UK from 1230 Dec. 5. Disruptions likely.

The Scotland Against Lockdown activist group will hold a protest in Edinburgh Dec. 5 to denounce coronavirus disease (COVID-19) restrictions. Participants will gather in Holyrood Park from 1230. Attendance will likely not exceed the low hundreds.

Additional police will likely deploy to monitor the action; related security measures could prompt localized disruptions. Current COVID-19 measures in the UK restrict public gatherings, and police will likely single out individuals deemed to be breaching these restrictions; arrests are possible. Any significant violations of COVID-19 protocols could prompt police to disperse the protest; however, the event will likely proceed peacefully.

Avoid the protest as a routine security precaution. Allow extra time to complete journeys in downtown Edinburgh Dec. 5.
