Intercity train travel delays are possible on lines connecting Dar es Salaam and central and western Tanzania in the coming days following a train accident late Jan. 2. A passenger train traveling between Dar es Salaam and Kigoma derailed near Kigwe in Dodoma Region at approximately 1900 Jan. 2. The cause of the accident, which left at least three people dead and 66 injured, is unclear. Emergency services are on the scene. It is not clear how long the response may take.

Rail travel delays are possible on routes between the impacted areas through early January. Demand for alternative ground transport is also possible.
