The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) will conduct improvement works in the Rewa Delta, southeast Viti Levu, 2100 Jan.8-1700 Jan. 9. WAF warns that low pressure and water outages will affect most of the region, including much of Nausori. Officials claim they will restore service progressively 0500-1700 Jan. 9; however, further delays are possible. Officials have advised those in affected areas to conserve water during the outage, and WAF will deploy water trucks to the affected areas.

Business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations.

Advice

Minimize nonessential use of water during the outage. Water quality after service resumes may be poor; run taps for several minutes. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
