Iraq: Explosions reported near Tayaran Square, Baghdad Jan. 21

Event

Two explosions have occurred near Tayaran Square in central Baghdad's Bab al-Shaqi area the morning of Jan. 21. Initial reports indicate that at least one explosion was caused by a suicide bomber; the source of the other explosion remains unconfirmed, but is also likely due to an improvised explosive device. The attack has killed at least eight people and wounded 15 more; the death toll will likely rise in the coming hours. Emergency personnel have arrived at the scene and are investigating the incident.
