Separate groups plan to hold at least two protests in Eindhoven Jan. 24. The Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West (Pegida) have called for a protest at Stadhuisplein from 1330. Meanwhile, activists against the government's ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) restrictions had previously planned to rally at 18 Septemberplein from 1400, but organizers recently suspended the action; nonetheless, some demonstrators could still proceed with the rally on the day regardless.

Given that both gatherings have not been authorized, a heightened police presence is almost certain at Stadhuisplein and 18 Septemberplein. Counter-demonstrations could occur near the Pegida protest, increasing the threat of clashes. Additionally, current COVID-19 measures place strict restrictions on public gatherings; police could move to disperse protesters if they are deemed to be in breach of the restrictions.

Avoid the demonstrations as a routine security precaution and to mitigate associated disruptions. Heed instructions from security services and leave the area at the first sign of a confrontation. Allow extra time for travel near the protest areas Jan. 24.
