The incident began near Laurelhurst Park, where the driver of a car struck pedestrians. The driver then drove west, striking additional people over 20 blocks before crashing the vehicle. The perpetrator reportedly tried to flee on foot but was stopped by witnesses in the area and handed over to the police. Reports indicate the driver killed at least one person and injured five others.

Authorities have set up a perimeter across several blocks, likely spanning Laurelhurst Park to Southeast Stark Street and Southeast 18th Avenue intersection.
