Algeria: Water outage planned in parts of Algiers Jan. 26

The Algiers Water and Sanitation Company has announced that a planned water outage will occur in several areas of Algiers from 0800-2000 Jan. 26. Affected areas include Baba Hassen, Cheraga, Dely Brahim, Douera, Draria, El Achour, Khraicia, Ouled Fayet, and Souidania. The disruption is due to repair works on a main water pipe. Residents may experience lingering disruptions, such as low-pressure supply, through early Jan. 27.

Some business disruptions are possible in the affected areas, especially at companies that rely heavily on municipal water to maintain operations.

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Pressure and quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
