A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near a vehicle along the Afgoye-Mogadishu road Jan. 27. The incident, which reportedly occurred in the Hodan District, left one person dead and one injured. The target of the attack were local workers affiliated with a Turkish construction group.
Heightened security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely near the incident site as investigations and recovery operations continue.
