Opposing groups to hold demonstrations in Monrovia December 30; heightened security presence and transportation disruptions expected



The Council of Patriots (COP) group plans to hold a demonstration in Monrovia on Monday, December 30, calling for the resignation of top government officials and demanding economic reform. The independent Council of Patriots (ICOP) announced that it will hold a counter protest in Monrovia on December 30, calling the planned COP protest "unconstitutional."

A heightened security presence and associated business and transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the demonstrations. Clashes between protesters cannot be ruled out.
