Letter bombs discovered at separate locations in Amsterdam and Utrecht on February 13; no casualties or damages

A letter bomb reportedly caught fire at a bank in Amsterdam on Thursday, February 13. The bomb, which failed to detonate, did not result in any casualties or damages. A second letter bomb was discovered at a technology firm in Utrecht but was disarmed by police. The incidents come one day after two letter bombs exploded at separate locations in Amsterdam and Kerkrade on Wednesday, February 12. Police classified Wednesday's incidents as an extortion attempt.

A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of both incidents.
