Unidentified gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked the village of Hurra in Bassa Local Government Area (Plateau state) in the early hours (local time) of Wednesday, April 15. Local media reports indicate that the attack occurred at approximately 00:15 (local time) and lasted several hours. The gunmen killed at least nine people and burned over 20 houses in the attack.

Additional security personnel have been deployed to the area. Further similar attacks are likely in Plateau state, despite the current coronavirus disease lockdown measures in place, in the near term.
