Italy: Two demonstrations planned in Rome February 15

Two separate demonstrations planned in Rome on February 15; heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions expected

Two demonstrations are set to take place in Rome on Saturday, February 15. Members of Italy's Five Star Movement will gather in Piazza di San Silvestro at 14:00 (local time) on Saturday to protest the Senate's proposed restoration of annuities for former senators.

Also at 14:00 on Saturday, pro-Kurdish demonstrators will gather in Piazza della Repubblica and march towards Piazza della Madonna di Loreto to call for the freeing of imprisoned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan. The demonstration is scheduled to end at 19:00.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation and commercial disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of any demonstration.
