Meteorological authorities issue wind warnings nationwide March 12; anticipate transportation disruptions



German weather officials issued several warnings for wind to affect the entire country on Thursday, March 12. Orange and yellow warnings are expected to remain in place until approximately 16:00 (local time) on Thursday in central Germany while inclement weather may persist until 18:00 in some central and southern areas. Red wind warnings are also in place in the northern country, in parts of the Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern states until approximately 13:00 on Thursday, where wind gusts of up to 115 kph (71 mph) are forecast.
