A shooting in Ottawa at 07:30 (local time) on the morning of Wednesday, January 8, left one person dead and two others wounded. The incident took place around 400 Gilmour Street, about one kilometer (0.6 mi) from Parliament Hill. According to police, this is not an active shooter situation; however, the suspect is not yet in custody and remains at large. An investigation into the incident is ongoing as of 08:43, and Gilmour Street is closed between Kent and Lyon.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected over the coming hours.
