Announcement of confirmed presidential candidates to take place in Bangui on November 19; heightened security expected as related unrest possible



The Constitutional Court in Bangui is due to announce the confirmed candidates for the December 27 presidential election on Thursday, November 19. More than 20 candidates, including incumbent president Faustin-Archange Touadra and former president Francois Bozizie, have registered their candidacy with the National Election Authority (ANE).

Additional security personnel will likely be deployed in the capital surrounding the announcement, with protests by supporters of candidates not selected possible.
