UK: Extinction Rebellion protests in Aberdeen (Scotland) January 16

Extinction Rebellion protesters gathered on Altens Farm Road in Aberdeen (Scotland) at approximately 06:30 (local time) on Thursday, January 16, to demonstrate against the fossil fuel industry. Police were reportedly called to the site of the protest and remained there for the duration of the demonstration. Additional demonstrations were reported in Aberdeen city center, including the Union Square shopping center, on Thursday afternoon.

Further protests and associated transportation disruptions amid a heightened security presence are possible over the near term.
