Members of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) have called for a peaceful protest in Monrovia on Thursday, March 12, to denounce perceived police abuse of journalists. Protesters are expected to gather at 08:00 (local time) to deliver a petition to President George Weah. As of Wednesday, March 11, the exact location of the protest remains unknown.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the demonstration.

According to the PUL, as of mid-March, at least seven cases of assaults by security forces on journalists have been reported since January 2020.
