Thailand: Water restrictions in effect in the northeast December 26

Water restrictions imposed in several northeastern provinces on December 26; confirm and adhere to local regulations

The Royal Irrigation Department imposed restrictions to water use in the northeast of the country, including the Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, and Roi Et provinces on Thursday, December 26, as the water level in the Ubol Ratana dam has dropped to only 21 percent of its total capacity. Further restrictions are possible in the coming weeks and months.

Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor the situation and to conserve water in anticipation of possible water shortages, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities (e.g. water rationing measures).
