Argentina: Transport union schedules 24-hour nationwide strike April 16-17

The UTA announces 24-hour strike, except in Buenos Aires, on April 16-17; transportation disruptions expected

The Tranviarios Automotor Union (UTA) has called for a 24-hour transportation strike across the country, except in Buenos Aires, starting at 12:00 (local time) on Thursday, April 16, through 12:00 on Friday, April 17, significantly affecting some of the country's public transport network. The strike is to call for better wages and improved working conditions, especially during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. The strike will mainly affect lines within Córdoba and other inter-city services.

Associated service disruptions and delays are to be expected.

Individuals in Argentina are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate transportation disruptions, budget additional time for travel, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
