Gunmen kidnap eight people including two foreign nationals in Niger state December 9; similar incidents possible in the near term

Gunmen abducted eight workers - including two foreign nationals - working for a construction company on Monday, December 9. The attack took place on the Shiroro-Galadima road located in central Niger state at approximately noon (local time). According to security forces, the assailants wore military uniforms and were traveling on motorcycles. As of Friday, December 13, the whereabouts of the victims remains unknown. An investigation is ongoing.

Similar incidents are possible in Niger state and other parts of northern Nigeria in the near term.
