Protest against COVID-19 restrictions to be held in Santo Domingo on November 16; avoid all demonstrations

Activists plan to hold a demonstration against current coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-related restrictions in Santo Domingo on Monday, November 16. Demonstrators will reportedly gather at Plaza de la Bandera at 10:00 (local time) to protest the restrictions that they say hamper their economic situation. The demonstration is expected to be well attended.

A heightened security presence is expected in the vicinity of the demonstrations and security forces may disperse the protest due to current restrictions over public gatherings.

Those in Santo Domingo are advised to monitor the situation, avoid the protest site as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
