France: Ride-sharing service drivers to protest in Paris March 6

Union calls ride-sharing service drivers to protest in Paris on March 6; heightened security presence localized transportation disruptions expected

Warning

Event

The INV union has called on ride sharing service drivers across France to disconnect from their various employment platforms (Uber, Kapten, etc.) and protest in Paris on Friday, March 6. The objective is to demand improved working conditions such as social security coverage for gig economy employees and increased wages, among other grievances. According to media reports, participants plan to gather at Uber's headquarters located on Charlot street at 15:30 (local time). Higher fares and interruptions to ride-sharing services are therefore possible throughout France on March 6.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of the protest.

Advice

Individuals in Paris and in France more generally are advised to allow extra time to reach their destinations and to avoid all demonstrations as a precaution.
