China: Officials impose tighter COVID-19 curbs in parts of Chongqing as of Aug. 19

Officials in Chongqing are imposing tighter curbs in parts of the city as of Aug. 19 due to COVID-19 activity. Temporary control measures are in effect in the eastern part of Shaqingba District; non-essential movement and social gatherings are prohibited. Residents in the affected area must remain in their communities and undergo mass testing. Public transport and private vehicles are suspended, while nonessential businesses must close. Officials could extend or impose further restrictions if new COVID-19 cases emerge.
