Cameroon: Authorities ease COVID-19-related travel restrictions as of Oct. 17 /update 23

Authorities in Cameroon ease COVID-19-related travel requirements as of Oct. 17. Domestic measures unchanged.

Warning

Event

Authorities have eased COVID-19-related travel requirements as of Oct. 17. A test upon arrival is no longer mandatory. All travelers are either required to present a negative PCR test result issued no more than 72 hours before arrival or a vaccination certificate to enter Cameroon. The measure applies at land, air, and sea borders.

Domestic Measures
Nonessential businesses such as bars and restaurants are allowed to operate under strict health guidelines. Public transport, including taxis, buses, and motorbikes, are restricted from taking on more passengers than they have seats.

International Travel Restrictions
Travelers without test documentation or displaying symptoms may face a 14-day quarantine period at home or a government-approved hotel until they can produce a negative PCR test result.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
