Spain: Air traffic controllers striking at 16 Spanish airports through June 30

Air traffic controllers striking at 16 airports in Spain through June 30. Flight disruptions likely; reconfirm flights.

Warning

Event

Air traffic controllers affiliated with the USCA union at 16 Spanish airports are observing strike action through June 30. The strike relates to ongoing disputes with employers over pay and working conditions. The affected airports are:

  • A Coruna Airport (LCG)

  • Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC)

  • Castellon Airport (CDT)

  • Cuatro Vientos

  • El Hierro (VDE)

  • Fuerteventura Airport (FUE)

  • Ibiza Airport (IBZ)

  • Jerez Airport (XRY)

  • Lanzarote Airport (ACE)

  • La Palma Airport (SPC)

  • Lleida Airport (ILD)

  • Murcia Airport (RMU)

  • Sabadell Airport (QSA)

  • Seville Airport (SVQ)

  • Valencia Airport (VLC)

  • Vigo Airport (VGO)

Unless averted, the strike will likely lead to flight and airport disruptions, including delays and cancelations, at affected airports; related disruptions are possible at all Spanish airports and for flights using Spanish airspace. Lingering disruptions are likely at affected airports following the conclusion of the strike as airlines reposition aircraft and crew, and work through passenger backlogs.

Advice

Contact airlines to confirm flight status if booked to fly via Spanish airports through June 30. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Arrive at airports early to prevent your seat from being allocated to a standby passenger.
