A magnitude-5.1 earthquake occurred in Santander Department, Colombia, at around 02:01 Sept. 14. The epicenter was about 11 km (7 miles) northwest of Cepita, Colombia. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 151 km (94 miles), and light shaking was probably felt in Santander, Boyaca, Norte de Santander, eastern Antioquia, western Casanare, western Arauca, southern Bolivar, and southern Cesar departments in Colombia and Tschira and western Apure states in Venezuela. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; however, damage and casualties are possible in areas near the epicenter.
