UK: Unionized rail workers to observe various strike actions Dec. 2-8
Various rail operators in the UK to be affected by 24-hour strikes on different days Dec. 2-8. Rail service disruptions likely.
Rail workers affiliated with the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) will observe various strike actions Dec. 2-3 and Dec. 5-8. The strikes will impact different rail operators each day and last 24 hours. Details of the strike actions are as follows:
Dec. 2: East Midlands Railway and LNER
Dec. 3: Avanti West Coast, Chiltern Railways, Great Northern, London Northwestern Railway, Thameslink, and West Midlands Railway
Dec. 5: c2c and Greater Anglia (including Stansted Express)
Dec. 6: Gatwick Express, South Western Railway (including Island Line), Southeastern, and Southern
Dec. 7: CrossCountry, Great Western Railway, and Heathrow Express
Dec. 8: Northern and TransPennine Express
Rail operators affected by 24-hour strikes will likely provide limited services on affected days; cancelations and service suspensions are possible. Increased congestion is likely on available and alternative services. Increased demand for other forms of transport is probable. Residual disruptions are possible after the work stoppages conclude. Striking workers may protest outside railway stations and other transport hubs.
Reconfirm rail schedules and travel plans Dec. 2-8. Heed all official directives. Avoid any demonstrations that could materialize as a precaution.
