Chile: Emergency crews responding to small plane crash on Highway 5 near Talca, Talca Province, evening Jan. 15

Emergency crews are responding to the scene of a small plane crash along Highway 5 near the Panguilemo Airfield outside Talca as of the evening of Jan. 15. The cause of the crash is unknown; the pilot has been killed, and at least four people are injured. Nearby traffic has been completely shut down.

Increased security and traffic disruptions are likely over the coming hours as authorities continue their investigation.

Talca is approximately 190 km (118 miles) northeast of Concepcion.
