Mexico: Truckers avert nationwide strike and associated protests planned for Feb. 5 /update 1
Truckers in Mexico avert nationwide strike and associated protests planned for Feb. 5. Residual minor disruptions possible.
Truck drivers affiliated with various organizations, including the Coalition of United Motor Transport Organizations (Coalicion de Organizaciones Unidas de Autotransporte), have called off the nationwide strike and protests planned for Feb. 5. The announcement comes after the government and unions reached an agreement on Feb. 3. The purpose of the action was to denounce the perceived growing insecurity on major highways. Around 150,000 truckers were likely to participate in the protest actions.
Minor residual transport disruptions are possible as some companies may have already postponed or canceled transport arrangements in anticipation of the strike.
Plan for potential residual disruptions when shipping cargo.
