Chile: Protesters plan to march in Antofagasta on April 4

Protesters affiliated with the Union of Teachers and Education Professionals (Sindicato de Profesores y Profesionales de la Educacion, SIPPE) plan to march in Antofagasta on April 4. Participants will gather from 17:00 outside Mutual de Seguridad on Calle Antonio Toro before marching to the Municipal Corporation for Social Development (Corporacion Municipal de Desarrollo Social, CMDS) on Avenida Argentina. Protesters will march via Calle 14 de Febrero, Parque Brasil, and Calle Copiapo. The demonstrators will denounce cases of workplace harassment.

Localized disruptions to traffic and business operations are likely during the demonstration. Authorities will likely deploy a heightened security presence to the protest sites. Skirmishes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out, especially if authorities attempt to disperse the demonstrators forcibly.
