Climate activists linked to Extinction Rebellion plan to stage a protest in central Helsinki from 13:00 June 7. Participants will gather at Vanha Kirkkopuisto, where they will remain throughout the day. Finnish police issued a statement warning of possible traffic disruption in central Helsinki as a result of the protest.
The protest marks the beginning of the group's "Storm Surge" campaign, with regular events and protests planned throughout June. The campaign will be divided into two parts, with most actions scheduled to take place June 7-13 and June 24-30.

The locations of planned protests have not yet been disclosed though they are likely to take place in and around Helsinki.
Transport disruptions and heightened security are likely near protest sites. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators, law enforcement officers, or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near demonstration sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
