Mexico: Protesters disrupting vehicular access to Terminal 1 at Mexico City International Airport during afternoon of June 19

Protesters blocking road access to Mexico City International Airport, Mexico, during afternoon of June 19. Traffic disruptions reported.

Warning

A group of protesters is disrupting access to Terminal 1 at Mexico City International Airport (MEX) as of the afternoon of June 19. Activists are blocking the Circuito Interior freeway near the interchange with Avenida Oceania, bringing vehicle traffic to a halt along the main access route to the facility. Police have deployed to the scene to monitor the situation; it remains unclear how long the demonstration will continue.

Lingering traffic disruptions along the affected segment of freeway could extend for several hours after the protest ends and the demonstrators vacate the area. Some airlines could opt to delay flights if large numbers of passengers are unable to reach MEX in a timely manner.

Consider alternate driving routes and allow extra time for travel if booked to fly via MEX through at least the evening of June 19. Contact airlines to reconfirm flight schedules; do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed.
